Orthotic Therapy

Often referred to as insoles, custom foot orthotics are specialised shoe inserts that podiatrists prescribe to help treat your foot and leg problems, as part of your overall lower leg treatment management plan. Think of their role for your feet like the role of prescription glasses for your eyes, except that you don’t necessarily have to wear them forever – they can be used as short, medium or long-term treatment options depending on the severity and nature of your injury or condition.

We can provide prefabricated orthotics (which will be available on the day) or custom made orthotics which are manufactured based on a digital 3D cast of your foot, which allows for a more specific treatment for your foot posture and function. Custom made orthotics work in whichever way your podiatrist prescribes to alter the way your foot sits and moves, in line with whatever goal your podiatrist is trying to help your orthotics achieve for you.

Currently we use Footwork for our custom made orthotics, who are located in Victoria, and provide a high quality and accurate 3D printed product. This is based on the scan taken during your consult and the prescription provided by the podiatrist, and has a turn around of less than a week.

Umina Podiatry has facilities on the clinic premises for recovering of orthotics or any minor modifications required on the orthotics to suit any small changes which may be required throughout the life of the orthotic.

If you are experiencing any kind of foot or lower limb pain or discomfort, give our team a call on (02 4342 2878 or book a consultation online with one of our podiatrists for a full biomechanical assessment and creation of a treatment plan to help you get back to healthy and happy feet.
