Our podiatrists have a breadth of knowledge including assessment and treatment of paediatric foot conditions.
The anatomy of a child’s foot differs quite significantly form that of an adults, so medical conditions and complications affecting children can be notably different
If you notice any changes or abnormalities to your child’s gait or foot and knee posture, uneven wear of shoes, or if your child complains of pain in the feet or legs our team of podiatrists are here to help in assessing and developing a treatment plan to get your child back to their normal self.
Some common conditions which your child may experience, that we can help with are:
- Skin and nail conditions such as, ingrown toenails, fungal infections, and warts (verruca/plantar warts)
- Walking abnormalities, such as toe walking, in-toeing (pigeon toed), out toeing, and flat feet.
- Delayed development symptoms, such as tripping, reduced muscle tone and reduced coordination.
- Bony injuries and presentations, such as severs disease (heel pain), or osgood schlatters disease (knee pain)
There are a number of treatment options available that may help your child’s feet, including but not limited to, exercise/stretching programs, footwear recommendations, custom made or prefabricated orthotics, removal of ingrown toenails, or topical treatments for skin/nail conditions.
